Mothballed

Two decommissioned aircraft carriers, the Independence (right) and Kitty Hawk (left) in Bremerton, Washington. The Independence, CV62, was in service from 1959 to 1998 and was dismantled in 2018. The Kitty Hawk, CV63, was in service from 1961 to 1998 and is scheduled to be scrapped in 2021. Bremerton is one of the Navy's US graveyards for these magnificent battle wagons.
