The Country Store

The country store exhibit at the Brownsburg Museum in Brownsburg, Virginia. The village of Brownsburg was established in 1793 and was on the main stagecoach line between Staunton and Lexington, Virginia. The entire town was placed on the National Histori Register in 1972-1973 as a historic district. It was selected because the village has changed very little in size and appearance since the late 19th century. At least five properties date back to the late 1700s. The general store exhibit at the Brownsburg Museum, exemplifies commerce in such small towns in the 1920s and 1930s.
