Andrew's Geiser
Built in 1879, the geyser was named for the Vice President of the Western North Carolina railroad, Alexander Boyd Geyser, who managed the completion of the railroad through the eastern continental divide from Old Fort to Asheville, North Carolina. It is "powered" by a 500 foot drop in elevation from its water source and routinely shoots up some 80 feet in the air. It was a popular tourist attraction, particularly eye-catching for railroad passengers ascending the nine miles of track and tunnels that peaked at the top of the Swannanoa Gap.
