Mill Mirror
Edwin Mabry built this mill in 1910 and operated it until 1936, when the Blue Ridge Parkway was built nearby (milepost 176.1). The National Park Service restored the mill in 1945 for the visitors to the Parkway. It is, perhaps, the most photographed site on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Water Wheel
The spinning water wheel at Mabry Mill at milepost 176.1 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Edwin Mabry built this mill in 1910 and operated it with his wife until 1936. It contained both a water powered grist mill and sawmill. It was restored by the National Park Service in 1945.
A Right Smart View
A cabin built in the 1880s by the Trail family near milepost 154 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was one of the first cabins restored on the Parkway. The folks that lived in this area at the time called this "A right smart view"!
Parkway Ablaze

Saddle Overlook
The long range mountain vista from the Saddle Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway, milepost 168. The Saddle is a ridge connecting two high points on Rocky Knob Mountain. The Saddle forms a portion of the Blue Ridge crest line and offers great views in both directions, one of the few places on the Parkway where this is possible.
Rocky Knob Overlook
The breathtaking view into Rock Castle Gorge from the Rocky Knob overlook at milepost 167 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rocky Knob comprises 4,800 acres and 15 miles of hiking trails. The 3,500 acre Rock Castle Gorge is within Rocky Knob, with its Rock Castle Gorge National Recreation Trail
Overlook Ahead
The much awaited sign on the Blue Ridge Parkway..."Overlook Ahead"! Photo taken at the Rock Castle Gorge overlook, milepost 168.8. Six sided crystals of quartz were found in the valley, reminding early settlers of castle towers, thus the name, "Rock Castle Gorge".

Puckett's Cabin
Puckett's cabin at milepost 190 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This was the last home of Orlean Hawks Puckett, a famous midwife in the Virginia mountains. She helped deliver over 1,000 babies, the last one at age 94.
Sheet's Cabin
Sheet's Cabin at milepost 258.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway is the oldest log cabin, built in 1815.
