Roanoke Star
The Roanoke Star that stands 1,045 feet above the city of Roanoke on the summit of Mill Mountain. It is the world's largest man-made star with a total height of 88.5 feet and a weight of 10,000 lbs. Erected in 1949, the star symbolized the progressive spirit of Roanoke, the "Star City of the South".
