Colonial Flag
One of the early designs for "Old Glory" during the founding of the first thirteen colonies of the United States. This featured 13 five-pointed stars arranged in a circle, with the stars arranged pointing outwards from the circle, the so-called Betsy Ross flag. Experts have dated the earliest known example of this flag to be 1792 in a painting by John Trumbull.
This colonial flag was used at the Frontier Muster at the Wilderness Road Blockhouse near Duffield, Virginia. Old Glory stands out against a cloud studded brilliant blue sky over the verdant green of the Virginia countryside.
