Autumn Vibes

Look up and you will find trees that literally glow with autumn vibes in the forests of the Blue Ridge Mountains! These beautiful trees were growing in what remains of Fort Edward Johnson on Shenandoah Mountain of Highland County, Virginia. This was once a Confederate fort that provided defense against the invasion of the Union Army into the Shenandoah Valley. The two sides later met in a battle near the town of McDowell, just east of here, where the Union army met defeat which provided a brief respite for the Valley.
