Virginia Creeper Fall

Fall color abounds during the season on the Virginia Creeper Trail! It is a glorious place to hike or ride during the autumn season and any other time of the year. This is one of the 47 remaining railroad trestles that comprise the 34 mile rails to trails Virginia Creeper Trail.

The Final Ride

Autumn at the Depot

The color of autumn highlights the Green Cove Depot on the Virginia Creeper Trail. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a rails to trails 34 mile hiking / biking path on the former railbed of the Norfolk and Western Abingdon Branch. The Green Cove station was made famous in an O. Winston Link photograph entitled "Maud Bows to the Virginia Creeper" captured in the late 50s during the last days of steam locomotives. It is still used as a visitor center and rest stop on the Virginia Creeper trail today.
