The Southern Railroad FP-7 diesel locomotive powered up and ready to pull the excursion train at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. This engine, built in 1950, was used by Southern Railroad to pull branch line passenger trains throughout its network. It was donated to the museum in 1980 and fully-restored.
Fully restored Norfolk & Western Caboose No 518675 at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina. Herman Pelver, President of the Norfolk & Western Railroad, from 1963 through 1970 ordered all the locomotives and cabooses repainted blue with yellow lettering. The blue later came to be known as "Pelver" Blue which is exemplified by this caboose in Spencer.
