Steam Meets Steam
The Denver & Rio Grande No 315 meets Durango & Silverton No 473 in front of the train depot in Durango, Colorado. D&R No 315 as a 2-8-0 C-18 class steam locomotive built in 1895 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Florence and Cripple Creek Railroad. It was restored by the Durango Historic Society in 2007 and is the oldest operating Rio Grande locomotive. The D&S No 473 is a 2-8-2 K-28 class locomotive built by the American Locomotive Works in 1923. Ten of these locomotives were built for the Durango and Silverton Railroad, of which three survive today.
