Tennesse Central No. 509
No. 509, a 4-6-0 steam locomotive of the Tennessee Central Railroad, built in March 1913 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. No. 509 was one of eight of these type locomotives purchased by the Railroad on this Knoxville to Nashville run. These "10 wheelers" were quite versatile and used by many small railroads to pull mixed consists of freight and passenger trails over diverse geographies. This engine sits at the former Tennessee Central Depot, built in 1902 in Cookeville, Tennessee.
