Steamin' into the Night
Norfolk and Western No 433 in a night shot at the trail head of the Virginia Creeper Trail in Abingdon, Virginia. Built in 1907, 433 operated for 50 years with the Norfolk and Western Railway before being retired from service. In 1958, it was donated to the Town of Abingdon and placed next to the Abingdon Branch line, where 433 had seen some service in its later years. When that branch line was abandoned in 1977, it was converted into the Virginia Creeper Trail, a 34 mile popular hiking / biking trail in southwest Virginia.
