Built To Last
These old railroad trestles on the former Abingdon branch of the Norfolk and Western railroad were "built to last". There were over 100 trestles on the original Virginia Creeper railroad line, of which 43 survive on the Virginia side. These now compose the "rails to trails" of the present Virginia Creeper Trail, that spans 34 miles from Abingdon to Whitetop, Virginia.
