Located on 34 miles of an abandoned railway right of way in Southwest Virginia, the Virginia Creeper Trail is considered to be one of the most scenic rails to trails in eastern North America. Seventeen miles of the trail, from Whitetop to Damascus, Virginia is a fun downhill ride for thousands of bikers during the season.

Spring on the Trail
Spring blossoms and fresh green leaves highlight the former railbed of the Abingdon branch of the Norfolk and Western railroad, now known as the Virginia Creeper Trail. Mile Marker No. 1 can be seen in the distant right of the trail, indicating one mile from depot square in downtown Abingdon, Virginia. This popular biking / hiking trail now stretches 34 miles from Abingdon to Whitetop, Virginia. The trail is a lovely place to visit at any time of the year!
